Get to Know Jeff Kram, CFO

Posted December 28 2016 in #PeopleFirst, Get to Know...

What is your role at Choice and what do you do?

Chief Financial Officer. I oversee all the financials, prepare the budget, regulatory reporting, asset/liability (ALCO) management, alternative funding as well as many other finance and accounting related duties.

What did you want to be when you were growing up? If it is different than what you are doing now, what path led you here?

The first thing I remember dreaming about growing up to be was a fighter pilot. My vision wouldn’t have been good enough so that dream died out pretty early. I was always good at math so I took up accounting in college and got my degree then took the CPA exam.

If you could pass wisdom onto your childhood self, what would it be?

Stay active in all the activities your high school has to offer. Stay in band, choir, sports and other extra-curricular activities. You’ll never have those opportunities again.

If you stumbled across a time machine, where would you go?

I would go back to my teen years and tell my younger self much of what I know today — including buying some Microsoft stock in 1986!

Are you a night owl or an early bird?

Probably a little bit of both a night owl and early bird.

If you could live in the world of a book, tv show or movie, in what world would you chose to live and why?

How about Leave it to Beaver or Happy Days. Life seemed simpler and more innocent back then.

What’s the hardest thing you’ve ever done?

Probably the single hardest thing was passing the CPA exam. That and being a parent to a couple of teenagers.

What is the #1 thing on your bucket list that you have yet to accomplish?

My wife and I would really like to take trips to Hawaii and Alaska. We would also like to buy a place at the lake.

When you have an hour of free-time, what are you doing?

Probably exercising or doing something else active. I need to move after sitting at the desk all day.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained one quality, skill or ability, what would it be?

It would probably be musical. I can’t sing but wish I could.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

I don’t have any one biggest pet peeve but, like most people, have a few little ones. Like clocks that supposedly automatically set the correct time but then don’t work correctly and you can’t set them.

What would you choose for your last meal?

Never ending all you can eat steak and lobster.

If there was a movie made about your life, who would play you?

Let’s say Brad Pitt.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Jesus. I think it would unlock a lot of life’s great mysteries.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Been playing guitar a little over ten years now and the lack of talent should remain hidden.

Tell us a little more about yourself:

My wife Jackie and I have been married for 25 years. We have two kids – Kylie 20 and Ryan 18. I’ve been with Choice going on 19 years.
